Emily Pilbeam (BBC Radio 6) - ‘When I listened to this I thought it was breathtaking. It was one when I was listening to it I was just a bit open mouthed. I think her voice is just really, really special and commands your attention’

MK Bennett (Louder than War Magazine) - ‘Imagine a game in which you had to review an album in ten words or less for some arbitrary reason: aliens were landing, or various world leaders had lost their tiny minds, and we were limited to online daily word usage. The review for Common Thread would read “ Sits between Joni Mitchell and Jeff Buckley. Exhilarating and astonishing.” You could take out the surnames to be extra succinct if necessary’

Tallah Brash (The Skinny) - ‘Blundell’s first album is a journal of tender lyricism’

Poppy Ham (God is in the TV magazine) - Common Thread does not necessarily re-invent the folk soundscape, but it has no need to, as it embraces a whole host of influence from places and people, melting them together in a heart aching and heartfelt album

Biography:

Glasgow, Scotland is the gift that keeps on giving and Pippa Blundell is fast becoming one of its most captivating new voices. The rising singer-songwriter has already earned recognition from the Scottish Album of the Year Awards, Scottish Alternative Music awards and winner of the 2025 'rising star' in the Scottish Jazz Awards. Their album was hailed 2025 album of the Year on BBC Radio Scotlands 'Roddy Hart' show and this year they were invited to perform with the BBC SSO for their Burns Night 2026.

Their music blends the intimacy of folk storytelling with ambient textures and a classical vocal edge, drawing comparisons to This Is the Kit, Laura Marling and Jeff Buckley, with lyrics that navigate stillness, observation and life’s chaos.

Pippa graduated from the Royal conservatoire of Scotland in 2022 with a degree in Mezzo-Soprano voice, initially aspiring to be an Opera singer her passions naturally led her to song-writing and composition. She found her true belonging in the pubs, clubs and venues of Glasgow’s thriving contemporary music scene. Following the success of their debut EP sisters (2023), Blundell released their acclaimed debut album common thread in 2025 via Bridge the Gap — a collection praised for its emotional honesty and poetic exploration of the many ways we love.  She’s shared stages with the likes of Rachel Sermanni, 10cc, Fergus McCreadie, corto.alto and Nubiyan Twist. In 2026 she performed as a featured artist on BBC Burns night celebration with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
